Every year since 2013, for at least a few days, Hutchinson officially declares itself as Smallville – The home of Clark Kent, the human counterpart to Superman.
That proclamation has grown in the years since to include a community “Smallville” festival, and a weekend- long comic-con.
In today’s episode I visit with Christopher Wietrick, one of the driving forcing behind Hutchinson’s claim to Smallville fame. We talk about his long standing fascination with superheroes, in particular Superman.
And we visit about his struggles with mental illness, and how the sense of community and the real-life superheroes he found in Smallville helped save his life and gave him a sense of purpose and belonging.
