Kansas Treasurer shares his long history of public service in the state
I’m considerably late in publishing this week - which actually should’ve been published last week. Life sometimes steps in the way of our best laid plans.
Recently, I had some business in Wichita and while I was there I took the chance to interview Kansas Treasurer Lynn Rogers. I’ve wanted to interview him for some time, because I’ve found his path to his current role an interesting, albeit winding, one.
He began as a local school board member, then won election to the Kansas Senate, was later tapped for Lieutenant Governor before moving over to the Treasurer’s office. Before entering public life, Lynn spent many years working in finance, particularly in ag credit.
I learned a lot about Lynn in this recording, and I also learned there’s a lot more to the job of treasurer than setting up a booth at the Kansas State Fair each year to give people back their abandoned money.
